What this recall means for you
Some brush chipper trailers may have had their axle mounting bolts, which secure the axle assembly to the main frame, left insufficiently tightened. Over time, loose bolts could allow the axle to separate from the chipper while it is being towed, raising the risk of a crash.
If you own a affected unit, the manufacturer will notify you, and an authorized dealer will replace the axle mounting bolts and tighten them to the correct torque specification at no cost to you. You can also contact Vermeer customer service at 1-800-829-0051 ext. 7060 and reference recall number IK4005. Check your vehicle identification number for any open recalls to confirm whether your unit is included.
