Black Series Campers C12 Recall 21V116: Breakaway Kit Can Drain Battery and Raise Fire Risk

NHTSA campaign 21V116, reported February 25, 2021, 412 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

On certain trailers equipped with Curt emergency breakaway kits (part numbers 52041 and 52044), the breakaway system's battery can become depleted when the breakaway pin is pulled and not replaced. In that case, the breakaway battery can draw power through the trailer's main battery, overloading the electrical system.

An overloaded electrical system can increase the risk of a fire. If you own an affected trailer, do not ignore this recall and keep the breakaway pin properly replaced after any pull.

The repair is free. Owners will be notified, and authorized dealers will replace the affected components at no charge. You can contact Black Series Campers customer service at 1-833-822-6737, and you should check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
