Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 Recall 21V045: Corroded Brake Calipers Can Cause Drag or Lost Braking

NHTSA campaign 21V045, reported February 3, 2021, 4,403 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Road salt can corrode the brake calipers on certain 2018-2020 Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 and Interceptor 650 motorcycles. Corroded calipers may cause the brakes to drag or reduce braking performance.

These problems raise the risk of a crash, since a motorcycle that drags or brakes poorly may not stop as expected when you need it to. If you own one of the affected models, do not wait to have it checked.

Royal Enfield will replace the front and rear brake calipers at no cost at an authorized dealer. Owner notification letters were mailed March 15, 2021. You can also contact Royal Enfield customer service at 1-866-600-1122, and check your VIN for open recalls.
