Mercedes-Benz C 300 Recall 21V032: Front seat belts may not fully retract, raising injury risk

NHTSA campaign 21V032, reported January 29, 2021, 24,550 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain Mercedes-Benz C300, AMG C43, and AMG C63 vehicles may have front seat belts that do not fully retract to their stowed position. A belt that stays partly extended can be inconvenient to use, which may lead some occupants to skip wearing it. Because the belt is less likely to be worn, the risk of injury in a crash increases. The vehicles also fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 208, Occupant Crash Protection.

Mercedes-Benz USA will notify affected owners. Dealers will check the retraction function of the front seat belts and adjust the damping foam within the B-pillars as needed. The repair is free of charge. Owners may contact Mercedes-Benz USA customer service at 1-800-367-6372 with questions about this recall.

To find out whether your vehicle is affected, check your VIN for open recalls on the NHTSA website or with your authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer.
