Lincoln Aviator Recall 21V014: Washer Fluid Contaminated With Brake Fluid Can Block Vision

NHTSA campaign 21V014, reported January 15, 2021, 283 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some of these vehicles contain windshield washer fluid that was contaminated with brake fluid. The washer system therefore does not meet the federal windshield wiping and washing standard, and a contaminated system can reduce the driver's ability to clear the windshield, which increases the risk of a crash.

Ford will notify owners. Authorized dealers will flush the washer system, replace the washer bottle neck, washer pump assembly, fluid level sensor, and the front and rear wiper blades, and inspect and repair the paint and exterior components if they are affected. All of this work is free of charge. The recall began March 2, 2021.

If you own one of these vehicles, contact an authorized Ford or Lincoln dealer to schedule the repair, or call Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 (Ford recall number 21C01). You can also check your VIN for open recalls.
