Kzrv Sonic Recall 21V013: Wrong Breaker Size Can Let Microwave Circuit Overheat

NHTSA campaign 21V013, reported January 15, 2021, 806 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

On certain 2021 recreational trailers, the microwave and vent hood circuits were wired to a 20-amp circuit breaker instead of the 15-amp breaker they require. Because the breaker is sized too high, it may not adequately protect the circuit from excess current, which increases the risk of a fire.

Owners should contact KZRV customer service at 1-800-768-4016, extension 154 or 153, and reference recall number KZ-2021-01. KZRV will notify affected owners, and an authorized dealer will replace the 20-amp circuit breaker with a 15-amp breaker at no charge.

You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls on the NHTSA website. Until the repair is completed, consider contacting KZRV or a dealer about the safest way to use the microwave in your trailer.
