Volvo Bus 9700 Recall 20V803: Transmission Hub May Fail, Stranding Bus Passengers

NHTSA campaign 20V803, reported December 21, 2020, 553 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

A component inside the automatic transmission, the C1 hub, may fail on these buses. If it fails, the bus can be disabled, which may force passengers to transfer to another bus on the side of the road. Getting off a stopped bus in traffic or at the roadside raises the risk of injury.

Volvo Bus will notify owners, and authorized dealers will update the Transmission Control Module (TCM) calibration software at no cost to you. The recall is expected to begin February 12, 2021. If you own or operate one of these buses, contact Volvo Bus customer service at 1-866-870-2046 and check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
