Keystone Cougar Recall 20V801: Solar Wiring May Not Be Protected, Creating Fire Risk

NHTSA campaign 20V801, reported December 18, 2020, 347 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2021 Keystone Cougar recreational trailers equipped with a Solar Prep or off-the-grid Solar Camping Package may have the solar prep wiring connected to the wrong side of the 12VDC circuit breaker near the battery. Because the wiring is not properly connected to the protected side of the breaker, an electrical short in that wiring could increase the risk of a fire.

Keystone RV Company will notify owners. Authorized dealers will inspect the solar prep wiring at the circuit breaker mounted close to the battery and remount the wiring if needed, at no charge to the owner.

If you own an affected trailer, contact Keystone customer service at 1-866-425-4369 and reference recall number 21-392. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
