Altec Aerial Device Recall 20V777: Boom Valve May Allow Unintended Movement, Risking Injury

NHTSA campaign 20V777, reported December 11, 2020, 183 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2020 aerial device vehicles were built with a shuttle cartridge installed in the boom valve where a plug should be. Because the valve is not fitted with the correct plug, the boom can move unintentionally, which raises the risk of injury to workers and others near the equipment.

Owners will be notified by Altec Industries, and Parker Hannifin Corporation will supply a replacement plug at no cost. The recall began February 8, 2021. If you own or operate an affected unit, contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832 (Altec recall number CSN 789) to arrange the free remedy, and check your vehicle's VIN for any open recalls.
