Audi RS 5 Recall 20V760: Battery cover may cut power in a rear crash, blocking doors and hazard lights

NHTSA campaign 20V760, reported December 9, 2020, 2,355 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

An incorrect positive battery terminal cover was installed on certain vehicles. In a rear-end crash, this cover can compromise the 12-volt power supply, which may prevent the doors from being opened from the outside or stop the hazard warning lights from working. That raises the risk of injury because occupants may be unable to exit quickly and other drivers may not see the vehicle.

Audi will notify affected owners, and an authorized dealer will replace the positive battery terminal cover at no cost to you. Owners can also contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834 and reference recall number 27i6.

If you own a vehicle covered by this recall, schedule a free repair as soon as possible. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls to confirm whether your car is affected.
