Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Recall 20V684: Tires May Fail Suddenly, Raising Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 20V684, reported November 5, 2020, 7,516 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain GM vehicles from 2020 and 2021, including Buick Enclave, Cadillac XT5, GMC Acadia, Chevrolet Traverse, and Chevrolet and GMC Silverado and Sierra 1500 models, may have been built with Continental tires that were overcured during manufacturing. Overcured tires can develop a sidewall carcass break that causes a sudden loss of air, or a belt edge separation that can lead to partial or full loss of tread or belt.

Either condition increases the risk of a crash. If you own one of these vehicles, GM will notify you, and you can also contact customer service: GMC 1-888-988-7267, Buick 1-866-608-8080, Chevrolet 1-800-222-1020, or Cadillac 1-800-458-8006. GM's recall number is N202319030.

Take your vehicle to an authorized dealer, where the tires will be inspected and any affected tires replaced free of charge. You can also check your VIN for open recalls at no cost.
