Zero S Recall 20V640: DC-DC Converter May Shut Off, Disabling ABS and Lights

NHTSA campaign 20V640, reported October 15, 2020, 64 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The DC-DC converter in these motorcycles may not have enough power output to run the anti-lock braking system (ABS), instruments, lights, indicators, and any accessories plugged into the accessory outlet all at once. When the converter's power capacity is exceeded, it can shut off, which also cuts power to the ABS, instruments, and lights.

Losing ABS, the instruments, and the lights while riding raises the risk of a crash. Owners should be aware of this risk, especially when using accessories on the outlet.

Zero Motorcycle Inc. will notify owners, and authorized dealers will replace the DC-DC converter free of charge. You can contact Zero customer service at 1-888-841-8085 (recall number SV-ZMC-021-019). You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
