Utilimaster Walk-IN Van Recall 20V629: Accelerator Pedal Can Stick Open, Raising Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 20V629, reported October 12, 2020, 80 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

On certain vans, if the accelerator pedal is pressed all the way to the floor, it can become trapped in the open position by the tread plate on the floor at the driver's pedal area. A throttle pedal stuck open can cause the vehicle to keep accelerating when you do not intend it to, which could increase the risk of a crash.

The manufacturer will notify owners. Authorized dealers will inspect the clearance between the accelerator pedal and the tread plate. If clearance is not adequate, the dealer will adjust the tread plate at no cost to you.

If you own this van, contact Shyft Group customer service at 1-800-582-3454 and reference recall 20-09. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
