Vespa GTS 300 Recall 20V617: Brake Pipe Defect Can Lengthen Stopping Distance

NHTSA campaign 20V617, reported October 6, 2020, 483 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Improperly galvanized brake pipe terminals can cause excessive travel of the front and/or rear brake levers during braking. This reduces braking efficiency, which can lengthen the distance needed to stop the scooter.

Reduced braking ability raises the risk of a crash. Owners should be aware that the brakes may not perform as expected until the defect is corrected.

The repair is free at an authorized dealer. Dealers will test the O-Ring, replace the brake fluid and bleed the brake system, or replace the brake pipes, depending on the vehicle's age. Owners may contact Piaggio customer service at 1-212-380-4433 and should check their VIN for open recalls.
