Yamaha Xmax Recall 20V611: Dirty or Fogged Rear Reflector Can Reduce Visibility to Others

NHTSA campaign 20V611, reported October 5, 2020, 31,000 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain Yamaha motorcycles and scooters have a rear reflector lens that can collect condensation or other contaminants. When this happens, the reflector becomes less effective at reflecting light back toward drivers behind you, making your motorcycle or scooter harder to see at night or in low light.

A less reflective rear reflector increases the risk of a crash, because other drivers may not notice you in time. Yamaha will notify affected owners, and an authorized dealer will replace the rear reflector at no cost to you. Owners may also contact Yamaha customer service at 1-888-266-3085. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
