Stoughton DVW Recall 20V596: Trailer Frame Can Crack, Letting Suspension Break Loose

NHTSA campaign 20V596, reported September 29, 2020, 2,484 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The sub-frame of these trailers may crack in the area where the rear suspension hangers are welded. A cracked sub-frame can allow the rear suspension hangers to break away from the sub-frame and detach from the trailer.

If the hangers detach, the trailer can become unstable, which increases the risk of a crash. Stop using the trailer if you notice visible cracks near the rear suspension hangers or any unusual movement or sagging at the rear of the trailer, and contact the manufacturer before continuing to use it.

Stoughton Trailers, LLC will notify owners and will repair the existing fatigue cracks and add reinforcements in the area of the rear hanger at no cost. Owners can contact Stoughton customer service at 1-352-593-5900, and should check their vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
