Utilimaster RAM Promaster Recall 20V592: Shifter Cable Can Detach, Causing Unintended Movement

NHTSA campaign 20V592, reported September 28, 2020, 5 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The transmission shifter cable in certain 2015-2019 Utilimaster RAM ProMaster fleet vehicles may separate from the transmission. When this happens, the vehicle may not shift into the gear the driver selects, and the gear shift lever may not match the transmission's actual gear.

Because the driver may not know the true gear position, the vehicle can move unintentionally, which increases the risk of a crash.

The remedy is free. Shyft Group will notify owners, and FCA dealers will replace the transmission shift cable at no charge. Owners can contact Shyft Group at 1-800-582-3454 and can check their VIN for open recalls.
