MCI D45 CRT LE Recall 20V578: Rear seat belts may not retract, raising injury risk in a crash

NHTSA campaign 20V578, reported September 23, 2020, 56 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain motor coaches have seat belt retractors in the last row of passenger seats that may not function properly, so those belts may be unusable. The affected coaches also do not meet federal safety standards for occupant crash protection and seat belt assemblies.

Because the seat belts may not be usable, passengers in the rear row could face a higher risk of injury if the coach is involved in a collision. Owners should contact Motor Coach Industries customer service at 1-800-241-2947 and reference recall SB 490.

The repair is free. The seat belt manufacturer will modify the seat belt installation for the last row of seats at no charge, and MCI will notify owners. Check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls to confirm whether your coach is affected.
