Airstream Base Camp Recall 20V577: Wrong tire pressure label can lead to underinflated tires and crash risk

NHTSA campaign 20V577, reported September 23, 2020, 5 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The federal certification and tire placard on certain trailers lists the wrong tire size and pressure. The placard prints 255/55R18 at 50 PSI, but the correct information is ST225/75R15E at 80 PSI. Following the printed placard could leave the tires underinflated, which can increase the risk of a crash.

The recall also means the labels do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards 110 (Tire Selection and Rims) and 567 (Certification). Airstream, Inc. will notify owners and dealers and install corrected labels free of charge. Owners can contact Airstream customer service at 1-877-596-6505 or 1-937-596-6111 ext. 7401 or 7411.

If you own this trailer, check your VIN for open recalls and confirm the correct tire pressure before towing. The repair is free at an authorized dealer.
