Utilimaster Metris Recall 20V530: Wrong tire load label could lead to tire failure

NHTSA campaign 20V530, reported September 2, 2020, 5,096 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The Tire and Loading Information label on certain vehicles may list a payload capacity higher than what the vehicle can actually carry. Owners who load the vehicle based on that label may exceed its true limit, which overloads the tires.

Overloaded tires are more likely to fail, and a tire failure while driving can cause a crash.

The manufacturer will notify owners and inspect affected vehicles. If the payload values are incorrect, the label will be replaced free of charge. Owners can contact Shyft Group customer service at 1-800-582-3454 and reference recall 20-06. Check your VIN for open recalls as well.
