MCI J4500 Recall 20V526: Coolant Hose May Fail, Causing Engine Shutdown and Road Spills

NHTSA campaign 20V526, reported August 31, 2020, 1,561 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

A coolant hose on these motor coaches may fail. Owners may first see a low coolant warning, and the engine can then shut down. Coolant may also spill onto the roadway.

Spilled coolant can make the road slippery and increase the risk of a crash. If the bus stops working, passengers may need to be moved to another vehicle, which can raise the risk of injury.

MCI will notify owners, and authorized dealers will replace the coolant hose at no cost. Owners can contact MCI customer service at 1-800-241-2947 (recall number SB 486) and can check their vehicle identification number for open recalls.
