Tropos Able Recall 20V425: Rear camera may not show enough view, raising backover crash risk

NHTSA campaign 20V425, reported July 22, 2020, 66 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The rear-view camera on certain 2019 and 2020 Able low-speed vehicles may not provide a sufficient viewing angle. Because of this, the vehicles do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 111, which covers rear visibility. A reduced view on the backup camera display increases the risk of a crash or a backover incident.

Tropos Technologies, Inc. will notify owners, and authorized dealers will replace the back-up camera at no cost to you. The recall began July 24, 2020.

If you own one of these vehicles, contact Tropos customer service at 1-408-571-6104 and reference recall number TRO-20-01. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls to confirm whether your vehicle is affected.
