Ford Escape Recall 20V415: Side Curtain Airbags May Not Inflate Properly in a Crash

NHTSA campaign 20V415, reported July 17, 2020, 68 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some side curtain airbags may have been improperly crimped during manufacturing. In a crash that deploys these airbags, the diffuser can separate from the inflator, so the curtain airbag may not inflate properly. That raises the risk of injury to occupants in a crash.

If you own an affected vehicle, dealers will replace the side curtain airbag modules at no cost to you. Ford mailed an interim owner notice on August 3, 2020, and the recall began January 11, 2021. You can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and reference recall number 20S35.

You should also check your vehicle's VIN for open recalls and schedule the free repair with an authorized dealer as soon as possible.
