Blue Bird ALL American School Bus Recall 20V409: Front seat belts may pull loose in a crash

NHTSA campaign 20V409, reported July 15, 2020, 3,532 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain school buses may have been built with the front three-point seat belt assemblies installed without reinforcing washers under the floor at the anchorage point. Because of this, the belt anchorage may not stay secured in a crash, and the vehicles do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 210 for seat belt anchorages.

If a seat belt anchorage does not remain secured during a crash, the risk of injury to the seated occupant increases. Owners should take this recall seriously, especially for vehicles that carry students.

The repair is free at an authorized dealer, who will inspect the seat belt anchorage hardware and install any missing parts. Blue Bird will also notify owners. You can contact Blue Bird customer service at 1-478-822-2242 (recall R20AX), and you should check your VIN for open recalls.
