Setra S407 CC Recall 20V394: Engine hood can detach while driving, posing crash risk

NHTSA campaign 20V394, reported July 3, 2020, 58 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The engine compartment flap on these passenger coaches may have insufficient welding seams on its hinges. The hinge connection can fail, causing the flap to detach from the coach while it is moving.

If the flap separates in motion, it can become a projectile and increase the risk of a crash. Owners should take this recall seriously and have the vehicle checked promptly.

The repair is free at an authorized dealer, which will inspect the flap's seam welds and re-weld or replace the flap if needed. Owners will be notified by the manufacturer, and you can contact Daimler Coaches North America customer service at 1-905-403-7807 (recall number 75.00U20104A). Note that recall 21V469 supersedes this recall, so check your VIN for any open recalls.
