What this recall means for you
The wireless remote controller used to aim and adjust the water monitor on this firefighting vehicle may have its sleep mode disabled. As a result, its batteries can drain faster than normal, and the controller may stop working when it is needed.
Because the monitor is used to direct and adjust the water stream during firefighting, losing the ability to use the wireless remote could hinder firefighting efforts and increase the risk of injury.
The repair is free. The dealer holding the affected unit has been notified and will return the wireless remote controller to Akron Brass for a software update that enables the sleep mode. Owners can contact Akron Brass customer service at 1-800-228-1161 or Spartan customer service at 1-800-867-6478. Also check your vehicle's VIN for any open recalls.
