Gillig LOW Floor Recall 20V342: Rear suspension rods can fail, reducing bus stability

NHTSA campaign 20V342, reported June 10, 2020, 3,728 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2018 to 2020 Gillig Low Floor buses may have rear suspension lower control rods that develop fatigue failure. The end bushings on these rods can become stiffened, which puts extra stress on the rods over time.

If a rear suspension lower control rod fails, the bus may have reduced handling and stability, which increases the risk of a crash. Owners should take this recall seriously and act promptly.

Gillig will notify owners and provide new lower control rods with different bushings at no cost. You can contact Gillig customer service at 1-800-735-1500 for more information. The recall began June 26, 2020. Check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
