Honda Clarity Plug-IN Hybrid Recall 20V326: Rear seat belts may not lock in a crash

NHTSA campaign 20V326, reported June 4, 2020, 128 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2019 Honda Clarity Electric, Fuel Cell, and Plug-in Hybrid vehicles have rear seat belt assemblies with a dual-mode locking mechanism. The seat belt webbing sensor locking mechanism may not lock as intended.

If the belt does not lock properly during a crash, it may not restrain the rear seat occupant as designed, which increases the risk of injury.

Honda will notify owners. Dealers will inspect the rear seat belt assemblies based on production dates and replace them as needed, free of charge. Owners can contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138 (recall number Z7L), and should check their VIN for open recalls.
