Ford Transit Connect Recall 20V305: Front Seat Belts May Not Tighten in a Crash

NHTSA campaign 20V305, reported May 27, 2020, 1,616 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2016-2017 Ford Transit Connect vehicles have front driver and/or passenger seat belt pretensioner initiators that may contain an improper generant mix ratio. The pretensioners are the devices that quickly tighten the seat belt during a crash.

If the pretensioners do not deploy in a crash, the front seat belt may not tighten as intended, which increases the risk of injury to the front occupants. Owners should take this seriously and have their vehicle checked.

Ford will notify affected owners. Authorized dealers will inspect the front seat belt assemblies and replace them as needed, free of charge. Owners can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 (Ford recall 20S25), and can check their VIN for open recalls at no cost.
