Mercedes-Benz C250 Recall 20V298: Passenger Airbag May Not Protect Occupant in Crash

NHTSA campaign 20V298, reported May 22, 2020, 640 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

A front passenger airbag that was replaced under an earlier recall may have been the wrong part. If an incorrect replacement airbag was installed, it may not provide adequate protection to the front passenger in a crash, which raises the risk of injury.

This recall covers certain 2012 Mercedes-Benz C250, C300, C350, C63 AMG and related coupe models whose front passenger airbag assembly was replaced under a prior recall. Owners should not ignore this notice, since the problem is not visible and the airbag is needed to protect occupants in a collision.

Dealers will replace the passenger airbag module free of charge. Owners can contact Mercedes-Benz USA customer service at 1-800-367-6372 and reference recall number 2020060011, and should check their vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
