Vac-Tron CS 870 GT Recall 20V293: Rear Bumper Too Short, Risking Underride Crash Injury

NHTSA campaign 20V293, reported May 20, 2020, 21 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

This recall covers certain Vac-Tron vacuum excavator trailers. The rear-most part of the trailer extends too far beyond the trailer frame, which reduces protection in a rear-end collision and means the trailer does not meet the federal Rear Impact Protection standard (FMVSS 224).

In a rear impact crash, another vehicle could travel under the rear of the trailer, raising the risk of serious injury or death to occupants of that vehicle.

Owners will be notified by Vac-Tron, and the free remedy kit will be installed by Vermeer dealers at no charge. You can contact Vac-Tron customer service at 1-888-822-8766 (recall number VVK0009), and check your vehicle identification number for any open recalls.
