Audi Q8 Recall 20V272: Transmission fluid leak can make roads slippery

NHTSA campaign 20V272, reported May 13, 2020, 531 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2020 Audi Q8 vehicles may have an insufficient weld on a transmission oil pipe. This can allow automatic transmission fluid to leak while the vehicle is being driven.

If transmission fluid leaks onto the road, the road surface can become slippery, which increases the risk of a crash. Owners should be alert to signs of a fluid leak and to any loss of traction.

The remedy is free of charge. Authorized dealers will inspect the transmission oil pipe and replace it if necessary. Owners can contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-253-2834 (Volkswagen recall number 38C7), and should check their vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
