Ford Expedition Recall 20V263: Warning chime too short; car can roll if left out of Park

NHTSA campaign 20V263, reported May 8, 2020, 10,460 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The instrument cluster warning that tells the driver the transmission is not in Park, along with its chime, lasts for less time than intended. A driver who gets out of the vehicle without shifting into Park may not be alerted in time.

If the vehicle is left out of Park, it may move unintentionally, which raises the risk of injury or a crash. Owners should always confirm the shift lever is in Park before exiting.

The repair is free. Dealers will reprogram the instrument cluster, and Ford will notify owners. You can check whether your vehicle's VIN has open recalls on the NHTSA website, or contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 (Ford recall number 20S21).
