Mercedes-Benz G 550 Recall 20V247: Rear Door Child Lock Label May Show Wrong Status

NHTSA campaign 20V247, reported May 1, 2020, 6,659 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2019-2020 Mercedes-Benz G 550 and G63 vehicles have an embossed child safety lock symbol on the rear doors that may show the wrong lock status. A driver could think the child lock is engaged when it is not, or the reverse.

If a child is unrestrained and the rear door is not locked as expected, the child could unexpectedly open the door and fall from the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury.

Mercedes-Benz USA will notify owners, and authorized dealers will install a label on the rear doors showing the correct operating direction, free of charge. Owners can contact Mercedes-Benz USA customer service at 1-877-496-3691 (recall number 2020050034) and should check their VIN for open recalls.
