Lode King Prestige Recall 20V230: Cargo Winch Mounts May Fail, Letting Loads Fall Off Trailer

NHTSA campaign 20V230, reported April 22, 2020, 2 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain Lode-King Prestige SDG53-2 step-deck semi-trailers may have cargo securing winches that are not properly mounted to the trailer. The winch mount could fail, allowing cargo or load to come loose.

If the mount fails, the cargo can fall off the trailer and become a road hazard for other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash. Owners should stop using the trailer for hauling until the winches are checked or replaced, and should contact the manufacturer at 1-204-325-4345 with any questions.

Lode-King will notify owners, and the cargo winches will be replaced with an updated version at no cost at authorized dealers. Owners can also check their VIN for open recalls on the NHTSA website.
