Chevrolet Bolt EV Recall 20V184: Rear door may open while driving or fail to open

NHTSA campaign 20V184, reported March 26, 2020, 897 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The inside door-handle cable in the rear doors may be too long, so it can touch the window when the window is opened. Over time this contact can damage the cable. A damaged cable may cause a rear door to open unintentionally when the rear window is lowered, or may stop the rear inside door handle from working.

If a rear door opens while the vehicle is moving, or the handle fails to open the door when needed, rear passengers face a higher risk of injury. Owners should check their vehicle's VIN for open recalls and contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 if they have questions.

GM will notify affected owners, and dealers will replace the rear inside door-handle cables free of charge.
