Terex SML Recall 20V168: Lift Boom May Drift Down if Cylinder Rod Eye Fails

NHTSA campaign 20V168, reported March 20, 2020, 6 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The rod eyes on the 25-foot lift cylinders of these Terex aerial devices may fail prematurely. If one fails, the lift boom can drift downward, and the remaining cylinder may not fully support the boom, causing it to slowly leak down. These scenarios raise the risk of injury to operators and people near the equipment.

Terex will notify owners of affected units. Authorized dealers will replace the rod eyes and shims at no cost to you.

If you own or operate one of these machines, contact Terex customer service at 1-605-882-4000 and reference recall number SN684. Also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls before continuing to use the equipment.
