Turtle TOP Odyssey Recall 20V141: Seatbelt warning light delayed on 2019 Odyssey vans

NHTSA campaign 20V141, reported March 11, 2020, 5 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

On certain 2019 Turtle Top Odyssey vehicles built on GMC Savana or Chevrolet Express chassis, the seatbelt-unfastened warning light does not come on for about five seconds after the ignition is turned to "on" or "start." The vehicles therefore do not meet the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 208, which covers occupant crash protection.

Without a prompt warning, the driver may forget to fasten their seatbelt, which raises the risk of injury in a crash. Until the repair is done, make a habit of buckling up before you start driving and check that the belt is fastened.

The remedy is free. Turtle Top will notify owners, and GM dealers will reprogram the instrument panel cluster at no charge. The recall is expected to begin in April 2020. You can contact Turtle Top customer service at 1-800-296-2105, and you can check your VIN for open recalls.
