The third brake light on certain 2014-2019 BMW M6 Gran Coupe vehicles may become loose, and the light could detach from the vehicle. If that happens, the light will no longer signal braking to following drivers, and a detached light can become a road hazard, both of which raise the risk of a crash.
BMW will notify affected owners. Authorized dealers will inspect the third brake light and secure it properly with new fasteners. If the light has already detached and is damaged, it will be replaced. All repairs are free of charge. The recall began April 17, 2020.
