What this recall means for you
Some 2019 full-size pickups received a software update for the Electronic Brake Control Module that contains an error. As a result, the electronic brake assist feature may be disabled. The vehicles then no longer meet federal safety standards for electronic stability control and light vehicle brake systems.
Without electronic brake assist, the risk of a crash increases, because the system that helps you apply full braking force in an emergency may not work as intended. Owners should not wait to have this addressed.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the Electronic Brake Control Module at no cost to you. Check your vehicle's VIN for open recalls, and contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267 if you have questions.
