Rosenbauer Commander Recall 20V040: Front shocks can loosen and cause power steering loss

NHTSA campaign 20V040, reported January 23, 2020, 67 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain emergency response vehicles have front shocks that can separate from their upper mount. A loose shock may contact and damage the steering gear housing, which can cause a steering fluid leak and a loss of power steering assist.

Losing hydraulic steering assist can make the vehicle harder to steer and increases the risk of a crash.

The repair is free. Reyco dealers will install a new bolt, nut, hardened washer, and shim. Owners will be notified by mail, but you can also check your VIN for open recalls and contact Reyco customer service at 1-765-543-5815 or Rosenbauer customer service at 1-877-543-5591.
