MCI D4500 Recall 19V924: Rear tag axle may misalign, risking crashes into vehicles or pedestrians

NHTSA campaign 19V924, reported December 27, 2019, 276 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

On certain 2018-2020 MCI D4500 and D4505 coaches equipped with an optional steerable tag axle, the clamps that hold the tie rod to the tag axle mounting block may slip. When that happens, the tag axle can fall out of alignment with the front of the vehicle.

If the tag axle is misaligned, the rear of the coach may strike other vehicles or pedestrians, which raises the risk of a crash or injury.

Owners will be notified by MCI. The fix is free: an authorized dealer will replace the block clamps and retorque the fasteners. You can also contact MCI customer service at 1-800-241-2947, and check your VIN for any open recalls.
