Toyota Prius Recall 19V876: Gauges Can Go Blank While Driving, Raising Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 19V876, reported December 11, 2019, 3,751 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

An electrical short circuit in the instrument panel (combination meter) can cause the speedometer, odometer, and fuel gauge to go blank. These vehicles do not meet the federal safety standard for controls and displays.

With the main display blank, you cannot see your vehicle speed or fuel level, which can increase the risk of a crash.

Dealers will inspect the flash memory chip (ROM) production date and, if needed, replace it along with the combination meter circuit board, at no cost to you. Owners will be notified by Toyota. You can contact Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371, and check your VIN for open recalls.
