- Problem
- Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Glaval Bus Apollo, Commute, Concorde II, Entourage, Legacy, Primetime, Titan, Titan II Low Floor, and Universal shuttle buses equipped with Safe Fleet Prolo Roof Escape hatches. Due to a manufacturing issue, the roof hatch external handle may unexpectedly break under reasonable use. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 217, "Bus Emergency Exits and Window Retention and Release."
- Risk
- If the roof hatch external handle breaks, in the event of an emergency, the hatch cannot be easily opened from outside the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury.
- Remedy
- Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will replace the hatch, free of charge. The recall began December 10, 2019. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-800-748-3440. Forest River's number for this recall is 05-1115.

What this recall means for you
The external handle on the roof escape hatch may break unexpectedly during normal use because of a manufacturing problem. The hatch is meant to be opened from outside the bus in an emergency, and these buses do not meet federal bus emergency exit requirements (FMVSS 217) while the handle is defective.
If the handle breaks, rescuers or occupants may not be able to easily open the roof hatch from outside the vehicle during an emergency, which increases the risk of injury.
Forest River will notify owners, and authorized dealers will replace the roof hatch at no charge. Owners can contact Forest River customer service at 1-800-748-3440 (recall number 05-1115). Check your vehicle's VIN for open recalls to confirm whether your bus is affected.
