BMW X6 Recall 19V823: Child Seat Anchors May Be Damaged, Raising Crash Injury Risk

NHTSA campaign 19V823, reported November 18, 2019, 32,760 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

BMW is recalling certain X6 SUVs because the rear seat lower anchor bars, which secure child car seats, may become damaged over time when used with an ISOFIX-type, rigid-style connector child restraint. Damaged anchor bars may not hold a child seat properly, which could increase the child's risk of injury in a crash.

If you own an affected vehicle, BMW will notify you by mail, and authorized BMW dealers will weld a reinforcing bracket to the lower anchor bars and the vehicle body at no cost to you. Owner notification began January 17, 2020. You can also contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417 for more information.

Whether or not you received a notice, check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls to confirm whether your X6 is affected and whether the repair is still pending.
