What this recall means for you
On certain 2012 and 2013 Fiat 500 vehicles with 6-speed automatic transmissions, the shifter cable bushing may fail. This can allow the cable to detach from the transmission, so the transmission may not shift into the gear you select. Even with the shifter in PARK, the vehicle may roll away.
These situations increase the risk of a crash. If your car does not shift as expected or seems to move when it should be in PARK, stop driving it and contact an authorized dealer.
The repair is free. Dealers will replace the shifter cable adjuster at no charge. Chrysler will notify owners, and you can contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 (recall number VB4). You can also check your VIN for open recalls to confirm whether your vehicle is affected.
