Blue Bird Vision Recall 19V796: Brake lights may stay on or fail to warn drivers behind

NHTSA campaign 19V796, reported November 6, 2019, 112 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2013-2020 Blue Bird Vision transit buses with Ford engines may have a brake light switch that was incorrectly adjusted at installation, or a brake light switch mounting bracket that can deform when the driver lets the brake pedal return forcibly. Either condition can cause the brake lights to stay on continuously.

When brake lights do not work properly, following motorists may not realize the bus is slowing or stopping, which increases the risk of a crash.

Authorized dealers will install a new, redesigned brake light switch mounting bracket and a new brake light switch at no cost to you. Contact Blue Bird customer service at 1-478-822-2242, and check your vehicle identification number for any open recalls.
