Blue Bird Vision Recall 19V795: Brake lights may stay on, confusing following drivers

NHTSA campaign 19V795, reported November 6, 2019, 12,835 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2013-2020 Blue Bird Vision school buses with Ford engines may have a brake light switch that was set up incorrectly at installation, or a mounting bracket that can bend when the driver lets the brake pedal return forcefully. Either problem can make the brake lights stay on continuously.

When brake lights are lit all the time, drivers behind the bus may not realize when it is slowing or stopping, which raises the risk of a rear-end crash. If you own or operate one of these buses, contact Blue Bird customer service at 1-478-822-2242 and reference recall number S19AI-SB. Dealers will install a redesigned brake light switch mounting bracket and a new brake light switch at no cost to you. Blue Bird sent an interim notice to owners on December 10, 2019, and the recall began March 6, 2020. You can also check your vehicle identification number for open recalls.
