Thomas Built Buses Minotour Recall 19V717: Seatbelt Warning Light May Delay Alert on School Bus

NHTSA campaign 19V717, reported October 9, 2019, 1,045 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

On certain school buses, the front seatbelt-unfastened warning light does not come on for about five seconds after the ignition is turned on or started. This means the driver may not be reminded to buckle up right away, and the buses do not meet a federal occupant crash protection standard.

If the driver forgets to fasten the seatbelt, the risk of injury increases in the event of a crash. The recall covers 2020 Thomas Built Buses Minotour school buses.

The repair is free. Dealers will reprogram the instrument panel cluster at no cost to the owner. Owners can contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712 using recall number FL-833, and can check their vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
