Subaru Forester Recall 19V701: Passenger Airbag May Switch Off While Seat Is Occupied

NHTSA campaign 19V701, reported October 3, 2019, 366,282 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

A loose electrical connection in the front passenger seat's Occupant Detection System can cause the front passenger airbag to deactivate even when the seat is occupied. If that happens in a crash, a front passenger may face a greater risk of injury because the airbag will not deploy as designed.

Subaru will notify affected owners. Authorized dealers will inspect the system and, if needed, replace the occupant detection sensor mat harness at no cost to you. Owners can contact Subaru customer service at 1-844-373-6614 and reference recall number WUM-98. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls to confirm whether your Forester is affected.
